Lego First Robotics

GCS is starting its first FLL (first lego league) team made up of 4-8th (and some 3rd) graders. We are now at maximum capacity with seven per team and two teams. But you can always watch events or help as a volunteer.

 First Lego league is about team building, learning together, discovery, friendly competition and coopertition and having fun! Students will participate in a robot game and design a project whose mission this year is all about "nature's fury" 

The mission has already begun and so we need to begin meeting ASAP in order to complete our project by December. Meetings will take place initially during activities time and then move to after school/evenings as we get closer to the final dates. Parent volunteers are needed for snacks, fundraising, mentoring or coaching. No experience necessary. I will try to post relevant information in posts and as files on this site for our parents and students. For now we are meeting on Fridays from 2:30-4. If we need further meeting times, I ask you fill out my doodle scheduler link (sent via email).

Oct 5 is a special coaches meeting at UMBC related to the mission. it is definately  worth going through it.. They Warn you about what to try and what not to do. Head referees will teach about advanced programming.

4x8 plywood will be created for us for our practice table. we can also put the mat on floor, but we'll Really want a table or some plywood to indicate boarders as we test our program .

We will start by Brain storming ideas that we think are innovative to solve the problem -- we will start to think of experts we can call on to help and check on you tube for further ideas
